Full-Length Ballet Productions

At Hinterland Dance Academy, our annual end-of-year production is a highlight of the dance year and so much more than a traditional concert or recital.

Each year, our students have the opportunity to perform in a large-scale, full ballet production, bringing a classic story to life on stage at HOTA. Our productions have included The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, La Fille Mal Gardée and Don Quixote.

Every student is involved, with each class contributing to the production through carefully choreographed repertoire. From beautiful costumes and stage makeup to professional scenery, state-of-the-art lighting, special effects and multimedia elements, we strive to create an exceptional theatrical experience that allows our dancers to experience the excitement and professionalism of performing in a major ballet production.

Extensions in Dance Mid-Year Showcase

This annual midyear showcase features invited HDA soloists alongside group performances from our contemporary, jazz and lyrical students, providing dancers with the opportunity to share their progress and artistry with family and friends.

It is a wonderful opportunity for our dancers to gain valuable performance experience, build confidence and showcase their individual talents beyond our annual full ballet production.

Extension Program – By Audition Only

The HDA Extension Program has been created for dedicated and passionate ballet students who are ready to take their training further and challenge themselves beyond their regular classes and RAD examinations.

The program provides a pathway towards more advanced training, with weekly classes focused on classical ballet, repertoire, strength and conditioning, flexibility, performance skills, and audition preparation.

A key component of the program is our Individual Development Plans, with students receiving personalised guidance and goals to help them understand their strengths, identify areas for improvement and work purposefully towards their individual potential and future aspirations.

Students are supported to develop the technical ability, artistry, discipline, work ethic and confidence required to pursue future opportunities in classical ballet, while maintaining a healthy balance with school and family life.

The HDA Extension Program is designed for students who demonstrate potential, commitment, musicality, coachability and a genuine desire to progress towards higher levels of training.

Classes are held on Friday afternoons after school, making the program an accessible addition to students’ existing weekly training. Students from other dance studios are welcome to audition and, if selected, can participate in the program while continuing their regular training at their home studio.
