Each year in early December we put on a large production at HOTA to showcase the students achievements throughout the year. Each class learns a routine and all students are involved. This is definitely the highlight of the entire year students are given the opportunity to wear costumes/stage makeup and feel like real professional dancers! Our productions are not just your basic year-end recital – we strive to go above and beyond to produce exceptional quality shows that incorporate all dance styles, utilize state-of-the-art lighting, special effects, professional scenery, and multimedia elements.
Tickets are sold directly through the HOTA Box Office. They go on sale in early November.
Just before the concert we will host a professional photo shoot to capture each group dance, as well as take individual shots. Pictures are then available to purchase directly from the photographer. More info about this will be sent to parents closer to concert time.
2-3 weeks prior to the concert, all students must be available for extra rehearsals and other concert preparations on weekends.
Extensions in Dance
This program is designed for dedicated students who wish to take on new challenges and extend themselves beyond regular lessons and exams. Students are offered the opportunity to participate in our Extensions in Dance midyear performance.
It’s a great chance to get more training, more personal attention, and more performance experience.
Past programs have included solos, duos, trios, small group dances, student-choreographed items, and classical repertoire.
In an ongoing effort to support the students of HDA with continual opportunities to improve and progress whenever possible, we have now established an Excellence Program to provide further pathways and guidance within HDA’s program for students who may:
* feel very dedicated and passionate about their dancing
* aspire to pursue dance professionally
* possess a certain level of natural ability, aptitude and potential
Participation in these small group classes is dependant upon already committing to a full load of RAD syllabus classes and is only by accessible by invitation to audition.
