Welcome To Hinterland Dance Academy

50 years.

1000s of students and memories.

One studio. One love of dance.

50 years later the story continues…

We are a boutique dance academy on the Gold Coast specialising in quality classical ballet training for children, teenagers and adults.

Led by current owner and Artistic Director Andrea Etheridge, HDA has a proud history spanning almost five decades. Founded in 1978 by Annette Asheden, Hinterland Dance Academy has been providing quality dance education on the Gold Coast for generations.

In 2027, we are proud to be celebrating 50 years of dance education and training at HDA.

With a strong focus on technique, artistry, discipline and individual development, we provide a nurturing yet purposeful environment where dancers can discover their potential.

From first ballet classes through to RAD examinations, pre-professional pathways, adult ballet and large-scale full ballet productions at HOTA, our programs are designed to inspire a lifelong love of dance while providing the foundations for those who aspire to take their training further.

The skills, confidence, discipline, friendships and appreciation for the arts developed through dance stay with students long after they leave the studio. We believe a dance education truly lasts a lifetime.

Come and discover the HDA difference.
